Have you ever had the need to do something, but chose not to because you knew you weren't ready? I bet you do. We all do.
Sometimes, we think that the natural feeling of being ready will naturally come to us, with perfect timing.
But if we wait for that moment where we're truly ready, I'll tell you, we'll be waiting for the rest of our lives.
Here's a really simple example of how long we'll be waiting if we don't tell ourselves that we're ready. Back when I was a little kid, I was deathly afraid of having my shot at the clinic. I'd always tell my parents that I needed some water first, then I'd yell and freak out, not caring about how many people stared at me, as the cotton balls with rubbing alcohol were touching my skin. And until now, I have to admit that I'm still afraid of the needles. But, I knew that the pain wasn't that bad, and it only lasted for like, five seconds. If I hadn't overcame at least a little of my fear, I know that at this old age I'd still be freaking out over shots.
The message I think, me and Lemony Snicket are trying to say, is that we shouldn't wait until we're ready. Because not being ready has nothing to do with your words. If that's what you think, and if that's how you put it into action, you won't ever be ready.
Good luck, believe in yourself. Know you are readier than ready.
